Who are the nisser? Nisser are like pixies or elves. They are often mischievous little guys who would be placated with treats such as bowls of porridge so they would behave themselves. Traditionally they wear the red hat and stockings and when I was little mum told us to behave at Christmas time as the nisser were watching. A bit like kids today worry about Santa and his list of good and bad kids. We decorate the house at Christmas as well as the tree and there are always lots of nisser in every nook and cranny. |
